General information about studyApplicants for all study programmes provided in the English language are expected to prove their language competence by the Certificate of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL for short). Applicants with a valid certificate of another comparable test of English (e.g. Oxford First Certificate) can apply for to have that certificate accepted.All applicants are required to pay, simultaneously with the submission of the application form, a deposit on the tuition fee in the amount of EUR 200. This amount will then be discounted from the tuition fee. In case that the applicant who has paid the admission fee does not begin their study at the Faculty, the deposit will not be returned. It will be returned only to the applicant who does not pass the entrance examination. The deposit is also payable in cash at the Faculty campus. The deposit will be returned also to the applicant who was not admitted because of obstacles on the Faculty side. General information on Bachelor's degree (Bc.)The Faculty of Information Technology of the Brno University of Technology (FIT BUT for short) has accredited a new Bachelor's degree study programme in Information Technology. All applicants to the Bachelor's study are expected to pass an entrance examination in mathematics and informatics at a level corresponding to standard secondary schools specialized in the science. Those applicants who fail to prove sufficient capabilities to enter the Bachelor's study programme will be offered one-year bridging study. Having completed this study by passing the final examination, the students can enter the Bachelor's study programme.For fee-paying students, the deadline for application and CV is April 30 of the year preceding the first academic year of the study. The Secondary School-Leaving Certificate or General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE for short) is either appended to the application form or delivered no later than September 15. The certificate is necessary for enrolment of the candidate. The FIT BUT does not provide scholarships or other financial support to international applicants. The FIT BUT is authorised not to open the new Bachelor's study programme if the number of applications delivered to April 30 of the current year is less than 15. General information on Master's degree (Ing.)The FIT BUT has accredited a two-year Master's degree study programme in Information Technology. This newly designed programme was launched in 2005/2006. The structure of this study programme corresponds to the EU educational standards. Bachelor's degree in Information and Computer Technology, or in related studies of sciences or engineering is a necessary prerequisite for Master's degree study applicants. The programme will be selective and the admission process will involve an entrance examination. The admission will also depend on the availability of Master Thesis supervisors/tutors. General information on Ph.D. degreeThe FIT BUT has accredited a Ph.D. study programme in Computer Science and Engineering. The nominal length of the Ph.D. study programme is four years. Admission will also depend on the availability of Ph.D. Thesis supervisors/tutors. The deadline for applications is April 30 of the year preceding the first academic year of the study. The Master's Certificate, CV and a letter of reference from a professor of a reputable University are required for the admission process. The Faculty of Information Technology does not provide scholarships or other financial support for international Ph.D. applicants. Input requirements
Language of instructionInternational students can study in English or in Czech together with Czech students. Those who wish to study in Czech are required to pass an entrance examination in Czech Language. A student who would like to change from study in English to study in Czech is required to sit an exam in the Czech language to prove their competence in communicating in Czech and the knowledge of Czech technical terminology.
