11th Annual IEEE International Conference and Workshop on the Engineering of Computer Based Systems (ECBS)

CS
Conference: May 24-26, 2004 Brno, Czech Republic
Workshops: May 26-27, 2004

CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP: ECBS 2004 will be the 11th formal IEEE sponsored meeting dedicated to formulating and advancing methods, techniques and tools for the engineering of computer-based systems. This emerging discipline is devoted to the design, development, deployment, and analysis of complex systems whose behavior is largely determined or controlled by computers. CBSs are characterized by functional, performance, and reliability requirements that mandate the tight integration of information processing and physical processes. ECBS encompasses many facets: system modeling, requirements specification, simulation, architectures, communications, safety, security, reliability, software, hardware, human computer interfacing, system integration, verification and validation and project management. ECBS is the integration of several engineering disciplines including software, hardware, and communications into a complete engineering discipline. The conference provides a bridge between industry and academia, and the program will provide a balanced view of academic research and industrial developments. Contributions are sought in two major categories: fundamental ECBS technologies and reports of practical ECBS solutions in application domain areas.

CALL FOR WORKSHOPS: The workshops, beside short presentations, provide a forum for informal round table discussions. Workshops organized at previous conferences were Model-Based Development of CBS, Formal Specification of CBS, Performance, Interoperability and Applications of Mobile Agent Systems. Workshop proposals and related CFPs are due by October 15, 2003.
THE INDUSTRIAL TRACK: The industrial track provides a forum for short papers on results of industrial research and development that will be presented by representatives of relevant companies.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: Full papers (4000-6000 words plus references) or industrial track papers (2000-4000 words plus references) must be received by November 15, 2003 (by electronic submission, otherwise contact Program Chair). Papers will be refereed and authors notified by January 15, 2004. Send all submissions to the Program Chair (dvorak@fit.vutbr.cz).
NEW: Due to a raising popular demand, the program committee decided to postpone the deadline by 2 weeks to November 30, 2003. Authors will be notified by January 30, 2004.
