About the FIT Summer School
The summer school is organised for secondary-school girl students interested in information technologies. It takes place on the FIT campus at the boundary of the end of vacation and the beginning of the school year. This action aims at increasing the girls' interest in the study of information technologies.
If you are interested, come and convince yourself that the IT isn't only for men. You will get to know some interesting areas of IT, like creating internet pages, programming, playing with electronics in HW laboratory, or processing of sound, image, and video. Come, and maybe you will find out that IT is the right discipline where you can fully use your creativity.
Women in IT aren't such unusual as people usually think, and moreover, they reach remarkable successes. During the summer school, you will have the opportunity to talk with women that are proffesionals in IT and with girls presently studying at our faculty.
We will welcome all secondary-school girl students
- who want to get to know interesting areas of IT,
- who want to find out, what the others like on IT,
- who have always wanted to know something more about IT but were afraid to ask,
- who would like to discover new things and gain new experience.
Come, you will see that FIT fits girls!
History
On the initiative of Prof. Honzík, the Faculty of Information Technologies began to organize the Summer School for secondary-school students in 2008. Initially, the action was organized for only a few students from Brno and its environs. In answer to the positive response, the capacity of the courses was extended and courses were opened for participants from the whole country. Currently, as many as 60 girls can finish the Summer School.
