One of the problems when implementing cellular automata in hardware is the absence of fault-tolerance in the model. This article describes a simple solution of the problem which could be more feasible in manufacturing then existing complex solutions. TMR and 5-MR are experimentally verified, using several common benchmarks with the presence of defects on the level of function modules inside the cells. Discovery regarding the behavior of CA with the presence of defects is mentioned along with the subsequent plan for the dissertation.
