Annotation
The main goal of this paper is to propose a short survey of two various models of ontogeny, which have shown to be good candidates for the evolutionary design of digital circuits. The first method is based on repeated application of a program (so-called constructor, a finite sequence of instructions) on an existing circuit, allowing to create arbitrarily large circuits of various classes. The second method utilizes cellular automaton as developmental model, whose computation represents a ``program'' for the construction of a circuit with a given number of inputs.
