The enlistment of the branch into a study program:

Branch of study Information Techology is the only branch (ITE for short) of the Follow-Up Master Study Program Information Technology. It is under control of rules, conditions and criteria, which are given in the accreditation documentation of that program of study and also by common ruling and directives of the Brno UT and the FIT of the Brno UT, as presented at internet addresses www.vutbr.cz and www.fit.vutbr.cz.

Study targets:

To make students familiar with theory, technology and procedures used in the development of information systems, intelligent systems, computer graphics and multimedia, and computer systems and networks. To learn them to develop such systems applying advanced development tools, methods and technology. In compulsory courses, students deepen their knowledge received in a previous Bachelor Study. By selection of optional courses a student will study specialized areas which will support preparation of his/her Master Thesis.
The graduates can assert him/her-self in research and development of information, expert, computer, embedded, network, graphical and multimedia systems of various kinds, and also as system integrators, security managers, and information and communication system administrators. Owing to very good theoretical and wide, universal base of the specialization, a high adaptability of the graduates to all concrete demands of their future professional practice and also in other branches of information technology is ensured.

Extent of the final state examinations:

The State Final Examination has two parts: A defence of the Master Thesis, and a discussion based on selected on selected compulsory courses which are Hardware/Software Codesign, Advanced Database Systems, Computer Graphics, Intelligent Systems, Theoretical Computer Science, Mathematical Structures in Computer Science, Processor Architecture, Multimedia, Data Communications, Computer Networks and Protocols, Advanced Operating Systems, Parallel and Distributed Algorithms, Speech Signal Processing, Information Systems Analysis and Design, Information System Security, Soft Computing, Simulation Tools and Techniques. The areas of possible questions must be approved by the Study Branch Council, and students will be informed about the selected topics at least 3 months before the state final examination is held in the particular academic year. The discussion will be held on two topics.

Alumnus profile:

The graduates have good general, professional and special knowledge and skills in the area of information technology. Professional and special knowledge and skills cover theoretical and practical parts of development and applications of information systems, intelligent systems, computer graphics and multimedia, and computer systems and networks.
Owing to very good theoretical and wide, universal base of the specialization, a high adaptability of the graduates to all concrete demands of their future professional practice and also in other branches of information technology is ensured.
The graduates will assert themselves in research and development of information systems, intelligent systems, computer and embedded systems, graphic and multimedia systems, and network systems of various types, and also as system integrators, security, network and communication administrators, in state and local bodies, in the army, in education and health institutes, and practically in any industrial enterprise.
