  1. Introduction - motivation, fundamental concepts, data source and knowledge types.
  2. Data Warehouse and OLAP Technology for Data Mining.
  3. Data Preparation.
  4. Data Mining Systems - task specification, data mining query languages, system architectures.
  5. Concept Description: Characterization and Comparison.
  6. Mining Association Rules in Transaction Data.
  7. Mining Association Rules in Relational Databases and Warehouses.
  8. Classification - decision tree, Bayesian classification, using neural networks for classification.
  9. Other Classification Methods. Prediction.
  10. Cluster Analysis.
  11. Mining Complex Types of Data - data mining inobject, spatial, and text data.
  12. Mining in Multimedia Data, Time Sequences, and Mining the WWW.
  13. Applications and Trends in Data Mining.
Syllabus - others, projects and individual work of students:
 Reading up and treatment of a selected scientific paper concerning knowledge discovery in a field related to the student's PhD thesis.
