Learning objectives:
  To acquaint students with a general review of automobile electrical machines and apparatuses and special parts (alternators, starters, batteries and ignition).
Description:
  Review of automobile equipments. Electric power sources, alternators, starters. Ignition systems, electric light and signalization. digitally controlled electronic ignition. Safety systems. Navigation systems. Environment compatibility.

Syllabus of laboratory exercises:
 
  1. General methods of motor vehicles el. equipment measurements.
  2. Small resistances and torques measurements. PC based automation measurement system.
  3. Fractional horse power induction motor no-load. Loss distribution.
  4. Speed dependant machanical losses of alternator.
  5. Load characteristic of alternator.
  6. Test.
  7. Motor starter characteristics.
  8. Load characteristics of heating motor.
  9. Ignition coil measurement.
  10. Ignition distributor advance setting.
  11. High speed motors characteristics measurements.
  12. El. motors dynamic characteristics parameters measurements.
  13. Test.
Controlled instruction:
  Active work on laboratory practice, laboratory protocols, tests.
Progress assessment:
  Written tests (2 in the semester).
