Learning objectives:
  Students will become acquainted with PC an its components construction and trends for the future.
Description:
  The lecture are devoted to the principles of personal construction, its components and microprocessor construction. During the laboratory tutorials will become acquainted with practical problems, which are solved during PC installation and maintenance.
Learning outcomes and competencies:
  Students will acquire knowledge and practical experience with personal computers, their installation and utilisation.

  • Intel Microprocessor Architectures.
  • CISC Architectures and Their Implementation in Intel Microprocessors.
  • RISC Architectures and Their Implementation in Intel Microprocessors.
  • Coprocessors, FPU. Function, Structure.
  • System Board Construction. Personal Computer Configuration Before Installation.
  • Actual Chip Set.
  • Memory Organisation, Memory Elements.
  • EDO, BEDO, FPM, SDRAM.
  • System Buses, Adapters.
  • Peripheral Devices (HDD, FDD), the Principles of Control and Service.
  • Peripheral Devices ( Printer, Monitor), the Principles of Control and Service.
  • Hardware for LANs, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplier).
