Study targets:
The aim of the Master Study Program Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is to prepare alumni who are able to design, and to use both hardware and software systems on a high professional level. Alumni are ECBS (Engineering of Computer-Based Systems) scientists and designers. No new students are enrolled into this study program. This study program will expire in 2007.
The conditions that must be fulfilled by a student during the study period and when finishing the studies:
  • During the master study, the student is required to earn 300 credit points in the prescribed structure for compulsory and optional courses of the own study branch, and of the recommended courses selected from other branches of study at the faculty, inclusively of a foreign language. Elaborations and defences of two individual technical projects and the elaboration of the Master Thesis, and its presentation and successful defence at the state final examination board, are the obligatory parts of the education in the program.
  • Master Study Programme Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is run-out study program. The last state final examination will be in June 2007.
The knowledge and other presumptions that must be fulfilled by a candidate to be accepted for studies:
The current MSc Study Program, the last graduates of which will be leaving in 2006/2007, is no longer provided for external applicants. The FIT BUT accredited a two-year Follow-Up MSc Study Program in Information Technology. The structure of this study program corresponds to the EU Bologna Declaration and it is a continuation to the three-year Bachelor Study Program. The Bachelor Study Program Information Technology was started in the academic year 2002/2003. As the Follow-Up MSc Study Program (instructed in Czech, instructed in English) will follow the BSc study, it will start in academic year 2005/2006.

The principles of checking the study results: Credits
A brief description of evaluation principles:
The evaluation of examinations is derived from "points". The point sum is obtained from an evaluation of midterm examination, other tests and class activities, home works, course projects, and final examination. The maximum number of points is "100". The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) grading is used. The final result is recorded in the form of ECTS symbols (A; B; C; D; E; F). The General Grade Average is calculated from classification grades A=1, B=1.5, C=2, D=2.5, and E=3. The final examination of each course can be written, oral, or combined.
