Degree ProgrammesThere are three levels of the degree programmes at FIT:
Selected courses from the bachelor and master degree programmes are also available in the short-tem studies programme. The short-term studies programme is ideal for exchange students coming through the EU Erasmus+ programme (part of the Lifelong Learning Programme), who receive a small scholarship. Our University has Erasmus+ agreements with about 20 partner universities in other European countries.
The three-year Bachelor degree programme Information Technology is focused on education of graduates, who will be able to work as designers, design engineers, programmers and servicemen of computer systems, digital devices, computer configurations, computer nets, computer-controlled systems, as well as programmers and administrators of database systems and information systems. The prerequisites for admission to the Bachelor degree programme are the following: the secondary education, completed and certified, and a successfully passed entrance examination.
To graduate from the Bachelor degree programme in Information Technology, students have to complete successfully courses worth 180 ECTS credits in a prescribed credit structure, produce and defend a Bachelor project, as well as pass the verbal part of the Final State Examination.
Besides technical courses there are also social courses such as languages, philosophy, history, or courses with pedagogical orientation. Thus, students can achieve better language competence or general pedagogical competence as the necessary qualification to become a secondary education teacher. The graduates receive the title of Bachelor (Bc.) placed before the graduate's name. The expected number of students accepted is 600.
The two-year follow-up Master degree programme in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence offers courses, in which the graduates gain deeper theoretical knowledge. They also gain designers´ and users´ skills, which will enable them to develop their creativity in one of these specializations:
To graduate from the follow-up Master degree programme students have to complete successfully courses worth 120 ECTS credits in a prescribed credit structure, produce and defend a Master's thesis, and pass the verbal part of the Final State Examination. The prerequisite for the admission to the follow-up Master degree programme is a completed Bachelor or Master degree programme at a university certified by a diploma.
Compulsory courses are structured with regard to their optimum sequence. Optional courses are offered as follow-ups to those compulsory courses which form their theoretical basis. The graduates receive the title of Engineer (Ing.) placed before the graduate's name. The expected number of students admitted to follow-up Master degree programme is 350.
The Doctoral degree programme of Computer Science and Engineering has been prepared for outstanding graduates from a Master degree completed at any university. The education acquired in this degree programme also includes preparation and certification for scientific work. The graduates from the doctoral degree programme are ready to start their own scientific, research and managerial work. The graduates can utilize their creativity at distinguished research centers as heads of research and development teams and also in scientific and pedagogical career at universities. The graduates of this programme can also occupy high positions in large institutions and companies, where creative and independent work is required as well as efficiency at analyzing complex problems and suggesting new and original solutions. The graduates receive the title of Doctor (Ph.D.) placed following the graduate's name. The expected number of accepted students is 40 to 60 a year.
