Since 1977 he has had his job at the Department of Computers, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer science, Brno University of Technology (now the Faculty of Information Technology)

• 1985-1988: Assistant Professor
• Since 1988: Associate Professor
• 1992: 3-month teaching assignment (TEMPUS project) at the University of Aveiro and University of Minho, Portugal
• 1997-2001: Deputy head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
• 2002-2007: Head of the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Information Technology
• Since 2008: Dean of Faculty of Information Technology
