2016 Prize of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic in the category "usabilty" was awarded to four research teams, which were involved in the project: Technologies of speech processing for efficient human-machine communication. Josef Hlávka Price

Oldřich Plchot was awarded a Josef Hlávka Prize by foundation "Nadání (talent) Josefa, Marie a Zdeňky Hlávkových". Olda took part at the ceremony held on 16. 11. 2016 in the Chateau Lužany u Přeštic. "Nadání Josefa, Marie a Zdeňky Hlávkových" is the oldest Czech foundation supporting science and arts. It was founded in 1904 by Josef Hlávka (1831 - 1908) - an important Czech architect, builder, and philanthropist. The Josef Hlávka Prize  is awarded to the best students and graduates of Prague public universities, Brno University of Technology and young talented scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Silver Medal in the Human competitive awards in genetic and evolutionary computation (Humies)

Dr. Michal Bidlo (BUT FIT) got Silver Medal in 2016 Human Competitive Awards in Genetic and Evolutionary Computation (Humies) which held during Genetic and Evolutionary Computation COnference (GECCO) in Denver, Colorado, USA. GECCO represents the top world event in this area. This year 22 participants applied to the Humies competition from which 8 finalists presented their works during the conference. Dr. Bidlo obtained the award for his new method for designing complex cellular automata using evolution which has been accepted for publication in the journal IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation (TEC) with impact factor 5.908. IEEE TEC currently represents the top journal in the field Computer science - Theory and methods (according to the recent evaluation performed by the Web of Science).
