Abstract

Multimodal biometric systems play a very important role in our society, because they combine more biometric characteristics. In the scope of this publication, there are discussed important terms at the beginning, which are related to general biometric systems. Follow three concrete groups of multimodal biometric systems, which are based on hand, face and eye. There are discussed fingerprints, hand palm/back veins, finger veins and 2D/3D hand geometry at hand biometrics. Face is considered as one biometric characteristic, which is acquired and processed in three different ways - in 2D, 3D and thermos-area. At eye biometrics, there are discussed the two most important characteristics - iris and retina, whereas our unique device for capturing of these characteristics is discussed at the end. All here mentioned research results are based on our own research.
