For Study Applicants

The Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT) of Brno University of Technology (BUT) is a top-class university institution that bears comparison even on international level. We can offer you highly appreciated education in the area of information technologies in all forms of study: three-year bachelor studies, two-year follow-up master studies (leading to the traditional Czech degree of Ing.) and four-year PhD studies.

[study] Our degree programmes are compatible with degree programmes of similar orientation offered all over the world. We support international mobility and have agreements with a number of European and world universities on international exchange of students. The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) Label certificate awarded by the European Commission guarantees that your education stay abroad will become an integral part of your studies.
[campus] The campus of our Faculty is a unique combination of perceptively reconstructed historical buildings and new modern buildings. The reconstruction and additional building took place in the years 2006 to 2009, with leading Brno architects making use of the latest achievements in the construction of university teaching facilities. Not only lecture theatres with first-rate equipment and laboratories with most advanced technology are taken for granted, but also complementary facilities for relaxation and leisure, catering, cultural and free-time activities. All of this is in one place, in the very heart of the district of Královo Pole (King's Field), accessible in a couple of minutes by the main tram line from the town centre.
[it] The Faculty has a tradition of teaching information technologies since 1964, when the Department of Automatic Computers was established at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the then Technical University of Brno. The Department enjoyed gradual development and in 2002 it became a separate Faculty. We have our own devoted and experienced teachers with corresponding qualification and practice who also work on research projects and can thus enrich instruction with the latest achievements in science.
[research] Top-class research is conducted at the Faculty in the most diverse areas of information technology, from hardware through intelligent systems to multimedia. We are involved in the solution of national and international research projects either alone or in cooperation with other universities, research establishments or renowned companies. You can participate in the solution of our projects, make use of your knowledge and skills, and work using the most advanced technologies of today.
[prada] We put much emphasis on high-quality theoretical preparation corresponding to the university studies of a technological field. We are also aware of the importance of interlinking with practice. We have our own Industrial Board, through which we maintain regular contacts with key enterprises in the field and thus can introduce the latest industrial knowledge in our fields of study. A number of courses offered are closely linked with practice or have been prepared in cooperation with major enterprises, and the completion of these courses can even lead to the award of an internationally valid certificate. The technologies of companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, IBM or Oracle can be given as examples.
[dslabel] After graduating from our Faculty you will be sought for on the labour market and you will not have any problem to find a well-paid job. Part of the diploma you will get from us is an internationally valid supplement specifying all that you have learnt here. Diploma supplements issued by BUT meet all the formal and factual requirements of the European Commission, as documented by the Diploma Supplement Label certificate.
