Board of Directors
The initial Board of Directors of the Nation1 Foundation will be:
- Terah DeJong (Madagascar) is Co-Coordinator of the Nation1.net Project and will be the President of the Foundation. He is the recipient of American Community Schools' International Peace Prize (UK, 1999).
- Nick Moraitis (Australia) is the author of "Cyberscene" (Penguin Books). He is also a member of the National Advisory Council of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He is Co-Coordinator of the Nation1.net Project and will act as Vice President of the Foundation.
- Maitreyi Doshi (India), a delegate to JrSummit and a participant in the iEARN movement will act as Secretary of the Foundation
- Mary Fister (USA), student activist, was a delegate to the JrSummit 1998. Mary will act as Treasurer of the Foundation.
- Benjamin Quinto (USA) is Co-Director of the Global Youth ACTION Network and Youth Development Director of the ONE DAY Foundation.
- Ian Wojtowicz (Canada), is Founder and technical coordinator of the Nation1 project and a delegate to the 95 and 98 Junior Summits, as well as the 2B1 Foundation Gathering. Ian currently works as a software engineer for a Vancouver-based Internet company and holds a seat on the board of the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Privacy Association. - Alan Kay (USA). Currently a Disney fellow, Alan is credited with critical input to the design of now common place computing applications such as Object Orientated Programming, the Personal Computer and the notebook. For many years he was an Apple Fellow working on cutting edge learning technologies for children.
- Carolyn Chin (USA) currently CEO of Cebiz Inc, and Chief Marketing Officer, MarketXT Inc has also held numerous other previous Executive positions such as GM: Business Strategy for IBM, Senior Vice President at Reuters USA and Vice President of Citicorp.
- Mitchel Resnick (USA), Associate Professor, MIT Media Lab is the Head of the Okawa Center for Future Children. Along with Seymour Papert he has been integral in the development of the educational 'Logo' computing language and his research team developed the technology commercialised in the best-selling new educational toy "Lego Mindstorms".
- Pilar Baptista (Mexico) is the Executive Director, Futurekids Mexico. A professor at the Latin American University, Pilar has written books and articles on technology and children. Futurekids Mexico now runs more than 20 high tech learning centers and programs in more than 90 schools.
