Task Force Members
YOUTH:
- Anandi Gandhi, age 13 from India enjoys reading and dancing. Of herself, Anandi notes, "I like to be daring."
- Seta Rukmalasari is a 21 year-old Indonesian medical student. She actively works with the International Organisation of Agricultural Students on Village Concept Programs (to assist rural youth) and is the National Coordinator of exchange programs. She is also a member of her University's Student Executive Board.
- Khalid Ali Yussuf is 20 years-old from Tanzania. He is a medical student and hopes to help people through his career.
- Pragya Sitoula is an 18 year-old Nepalese citizen from the USA.
- Ryan Davis is a creative 15 year-old from the USA.
- Jennifer Schnidman is a 16 year-old from Connecticut, USA. She has campaigned against teen alcohol abuse and is part of Nation1 because she believes in the youth action movement and wants to take greater action to improve her community.
- Jana Scheider is a 15 year-old American who has run a community service site for Head Start (a state-run preschool for poor children). Jana works with autistic children and is the Director of Public Relations for the ASB.
- Benjamin Quinto, 21 from New York City, USA, is a Youth Development Director for the OneDay Foundation and a leading proponent of a United Nations Youth Assembly. He has presented at a wide range of conferences and is currently developing the Global Youth Action Network.
- Nickole Evans, 14, lives in Washington State, USA. She is actively involved in her community use of the Internet via "Free-Nets."
- Steven Sutton, a 16 year-old in New Zealand, was a Junior Summit and Hague Appeal for Peace delegate. He is interested and involved in international relations and the United Nations.
- Mariangela Tedesco Vergara is from Costa Rica and was an active member of trhe education group at the Junior Summit 1998.
- Tom Middleditch, 14 from England, is an environmentalist and was a delegate to the Junior Summit 1998 and Hague Appeal for Peace.
- Jacob Wolfsheimer, originally from Maryland, is an 18-year-old college student at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA. He has been active in his community and graduated from a highly selective, intensive leadership program during his senior year of high school. He feels strongly about youth being heard and getting active in their communities and abroad.
- David Sontag is a 15 year-old student from New Jersey, USA. He is a programmer and involved with the technical and activist sides of Nation1.
- Mary Fister is a 16 year-old student activist in Minnesota, USA. She is particularly interested in social justice issues.
ADVISORS:
- Sophia Giakmoglidou is an English teacher from Greece. She is active in the International Education and Resource Network (IEARN - www.iearn.org) and is multilingual, speaking English, French, Spanish and Italian.
- Millard Clements is a grandfather and professor at New York University. He is the founder of YouthCAN and works with IEARN.
- Young Lee is a consultant in the USA, specializing in youth empowerment. He has worked with numerous NGOs, including the Youth
Action Program in New York City and City Year in Boston.
- Brett Soloman coordinates the International Youth Parliament 2000 for Oxfam Australia, where he was previously National Events Coordinator.
- Juan Valiente is Executive Vice-President of Futurekids-El Salvador. He is one of the founders of the Salvadorean Childrenīs Museum and the Entrepreneurial Foundation for Social Action.
