Download a new alpha image
Downloading a new alpha image from the Squeak ftp site:
As an alternative, it is possible to simply download the alpha image directly, instead of updating an existing image. Bruce O'Neel maintains the latest alpha images on the Squeak ftp site.
To do this, look in the Squeak ftp site directory ftp://st.cs.uiuc.edu/pub/Smalltalk/Squeak/, ( or use a ftp mirrors site) go to the most recent version subdirectory (such as 2.9), and then go to the subdirectory called "files". This directory will contain a file called something like Squeak2.9a-nnnn.zip, which contains the .image and .changes files with the very latest alpha updates.
Note that you will still need to use the VM and .sources file from the official release download. (The alpha download does not include these.)
