Action Support Services
Nation1 enables young people to effect positive change. The Action Ministry provides Action Support Services to Nation1 members to do this. We want to ensure that this action reaches beyond the internet and into the real world, so our services reflect that. A large part of what we do is provide information to members, alerting them of what is out there. We also let members search our databases. A list of each service is provided below.
To get started, the following services are provided to new Nation1 members:
- Mentors are actual people and members of Nation1. They guide new members, answer their questions, etc. This is a more personal way of getting new members involved and is an alternative to generic form letters and FAQs.
- Profiles of young activists and action projects give new members examples and ideas.
- Regional centers will be set up around the globe. The location for the nearest center is given to new Nation1 members.
We also provide a customizable action website providing action alerts and access to our databases. This website would include the following:
- A People Finder for you to find expert adult advisors, young people who might want to work with one of your projects, project coordinators, decisions-makers (like politicians, etc.
- Information: To help raise awareness of different issues, we'll give you newly released reports about topics you want to know more about. New information will show up on your action page every day, but a searchable database (basically a search engine) of this kind of information is linked to from your page so that you can easily find other information. And to encourage people to act on what they find out, related action opportunities, upcoming events, and organizations are linked to from that info.
- Upcoming Events: Every day new events from your region (or internationally) that deal with issues you're interested in are listed on your action page. A searchable database of events is linked from your page as well. Also, action alerts on events that you were involved or just plain interested in are also listed on your action page.
- Projects listing: action projects and organizations with websites that you are involved or interested in are linked to from your action page. Newly created Nation1 action projects are always listed on your page (this would be updated every day). Also, action alerts on projets or orgs that you are involved or interested in appear on your page. A searchable database of action projects and organizations (that includes at least all action projects within Nation1 and all affiliated organizations) is linked to from your page.
- Opportunities: new Volunteer and Action Opportunities that fit your preferences are listed on your action page. A searchable database of these opportunites is linked to from your page.
- Petitions & Polls: new Petitions or Polls facilitated by Nation1 are listed on your page. An archive of previous Petitions and Polls and their results is linked to from your page.
Regional centers are the main way to ensure that action reaches beyond the internet to the real world.
